The Colbert Family & Deer Run Golf Course - Visit their website
Ed Colbert and his family have hosted an annual memorial golf tournament for the last 18 years in honor of his first wife, Marian Colbert. In 1985 after 25 years of marriage, Marian Colbert was diagnosed with breast cancer. Marian worked closely with a breast cancer group in Montgomery County and was a positive inspiration to all. Although doctors only expected her to live a few months, she lived for four and a half years then sadly Marian lost her battle with cancer. When she passed in October of 1989, her husband, Ed, decided to rename the neighborhood golf tournament in her name in the DC community where they lived. Needwood Golf hosted the event during the first 7 years. For the last 11 years, Deer Run Golf Club (formerly Greenfields) took over the event. For 9 of those years, Women Supporting Women has been the beneficiary of the event. This event which is held annually in September has raised over $125,000 for breast cancer. In addition to the golf tournament, Ed and his family are big supporters of Women Supporting Women and Ocean City Parrothead events. Thank you to Ed and Margaret Colbert and their family for their generous support over the years. |

The Annual Kate Tawes Family Memorial Crab Feast
Thank you to the Kate Tawes Family for their annual crab feast in honor of Ms. Tawes who passed away after courageously battling breast cancer. This event has been held for the past several years in Crisfield in October and has raised over $40,000. Thank you to the entire family and to Bob and Keisha Evans for making this event happen annually. |
